A Pelion/ABI study finds lack of expertise, cited by 60%, is the top barrier to IoT deployments over budget or connectivity.
A Pelion and ABI Research survey of 675 cellular IoT decision-makers found that a lack of internal or external expertise is the leading barrier to IoT deployment, cited by 60% of respondents, outranking budget and connectivity concerns. Managing deployments outside core network areas emerged as the biggest scaling challenge.
Security incidents are rising, with nearly 25% of respondents reporting IoT-related breaches in the past year, some causing losses over $100,000. Roughly 60% of U.S. and U.K. respondents said they would consider mobile virtual network operators for future deployments due to cost advantages.
