Redefining the CISO Contract: From Securing the Business to Securely Doing Business

Check Point, Friday, July 10th, 2026

Check Point argues CISOs must shift from blocking AI adoption to securely enabling it or risk falling behind.

In this piece, Adam Ely, GM of AI Security at Check Point, argues that CISOs must evolve from being perceived as blockers into enablers of AI adoption.

He contends that the traditional accountability-centric security mindset is misplaced for AI agents, since responsibility belongs with builders and governance frameworks rather than the technology itself.

CISOs who partner with engineering teams to implement AI security controls will position their organizations competitively, while those who slow adoption face career consequences.

Ely cites a Check Point report showing that 77% of organizations are updating their AI security strategy but only 26% have the architecture to enforce it.
