Choosing a WAAP in 2026: 3 Questions That Separate the Shortlist

CSO Online, Friday, October 30th, 2026

CSO Online lists three questions for shortlisting WAAP platforms, drawing on a SecureIQLab test of 12 products that showed wide score gaps.

A WAAP combines WAF, API security, bot management, DDoS and client-side script protection in one service.

The article cites the SecureIQLab Cloud WAAP v5.0 validation, an AMTSO-certified test from August 2026 that ran 12 platforms through 1,608 attack scenarios and 1,487 legitimate-traffic scenarios, with scores from 100% down to about 61%.

False-positive avoidance also varied widely.

It advises asking for API coverage protocol by protocol, since WebSockets were the weakest area across the group, and asking how long it takes to reach a tuned, low false-positive state, measured over two weeks of real traffic.
