Cadillac F1 CIO Turns Greenfield IT Into a Win
InformationWeek, Friday, October 30th, 2026
Cadillac F1 CIO Chris Green explains building an IT team from scratch, using AI and ERP tools to handle large data demands before its debut.
Chris Green joined Cadillac F1 as a one-person IT department and built a team in two years using a greenfield approach, working initially under desks and running cables across about eight temporary offices.
He said the main advantage was building an accurate data collection and management system without legacy constraints, though speed pressure was high, and that his supervisor's understanding of technology and operational autonomy helped.
Unlike most F1 teams, which enter by acquisition, the team was built from scratch and attracted people who wanted to help build from the ground up.
He spoke at a Gartner IT Symposium/Xpo fireside chat; the team entered its first season this year.
