Expanding Enterprise Data Engineering with Apache Flink Stream Processing

IBM, Wednesday, October 28th, 2026

IBM announces watsonx.data integration for Apache Flink to help teams build and run streaming pipelines on Confluent Platform for Apache Flink.

IBM says real-time data is now an enterprise requirement for fraud detection, supply-chain response, customer experiences and AI, but production Flink needs specialists in distributed state, checkpoints and event-time processing, creating a bottleneck.

The new offering brings familiar data-engineering practices to the Flink lifecycle, from authoring and validation to production operations, aimed at extending stream processing to more teams.

It is designed for pipelines that run on Confluent Platform for Apache Flink and lets organizations get more from their existing Confluent streaming foundation.
