AI for Science Expands to Foundations and Research Institutions

Anthropic, Wednesday, October 28th, 2026

Anthropic expands its AI for Science program to 20 foundations and research groups, which receive free Claude credits for scientific projects.

The program began in May 2025 to give researchers free Claude credits for high-impact science.

Anthropic says it has since launched a discounted Team plan for scientists and supported hundreds of projects across biology, medicine, physics, chemistry, climate science and mathematics.

Examples of partnerships include HHMI Janelia, with which it developed the Model Hardware Standard, a research-preview specification that lets AI agents safely operate lab instruments, and the Allen Institute, which is building teams of AI agents for analysis.

Scientists reportedly use Claude to generate hypotheses, design experiments and analyze data.
