Fujifilm Getting It Taped: Quintupling Production

Blocks and Files, Wednesday, October 28th, 2026

Fujifilm reportedly plans to raise LTO tape output fivefold by fiscal 2028, backed by a 10 billion yen plant investment.

Blocks and Files, citing an AsiaNikkei report, says Fujifilm plans to make fiscal 2028 LTO tape output five times its 2025 level, backed by a 10 billion yen investment at its Odawara plant.

LTO tape shipments rose 57% in Q1 2026, attributed to LTO-10 shipments and archiving of data including AI training data.

LTO-10 holds 40 TB raw, and LTO-11 at up to 70 TB raw is expected around 2028 or 2029.

The article suggests Sony and tape library suppliers such as Quantum and Spectra Logic may also benefit.
