Enterprise AI Needs a Data Strategy, Not Just a Model Strategy
Red Hat, Monday, October 26th, 2026
Red Hat argues enterprise AI success depends on a data strategy built on foundation, trust, and ecosystem dimensions.
Red Hat argues that as models commoditize, the key differentiator is whether enterprise data is ready for any model or agent to use, citing a 2026 Linux Foundation report on data access and governance hurdles.
Its framework has three dimensions: a foundation of automated discovery, metadata cataloging, standard APIs, and end-to-end lineage, trust through policy-driven agent access controls plus semantic guardrails, and an ecosystem built on open standards that federates rather than replaces existing infrastructure.
It notes open source trends such as settled storage formats like Apache Iceberg, fragmented orchestration, and that adding PGVector to PostgreSQL often suffices for early generative AI vector search.
