ERP Modernization Is More Than a Migration
OpenText, Tuesday, October 27th, 2026
OpenText argues SAP S/4HANA migrations should reduce complexity and prepare content for AI rather than just move legacy systems.
OpenText's Janine Wendling notes that SAP mainstream maintenance for legacy ECC systems ends in 2027 and that delaying migration increases the work required.
Citing Deloitte, she says technical debt consumes 21 to 40 percent of IT spending, and citing Horvath, that 60 percent of S/4HANA migrations miss budget, schedule or quality goals.
She argues migrations should eliminate inactive data, legacy applications and heavy customizations rather than carry them forward.
Because much business context lives in documents and contracts, unmanaged content can leave organizations with AI-enabled ERP but no AI-ready information foundation.
