Cloudflare Brings On-Demand CPU and Memory Profiling to Production Workers

InfoQ, Friday, October 23rd, 2026

Cloudflare now lets developers capture CPU and heap flamegraphs from live Workers and Durable Objects under real traffic.

Cloudflare added on-demand CPU and memory profiling for Workers and Durable Objects, producing interactive flamegraphs through its observability dashboard or CLI.

Profiling targets an already-running isolate, so developers see code behaving under real production traffic, and a specific named Durable Object can be profiled.

InfoQ explains the engineering involved: locating a suitable isolate across a distributed edge, and sampling with V8's profiler at one-millisecond intervals without holding the isolate lock.

Caveats include needing enough traffic during the capture window and enabling source maps for TypeScript.
