Kioxia Beats Its Own World Record With the Fastest SSD Ever Produced: New PCIe 6.0 GP1 Tops 20M IOPS

TechRadar, Monday, October 12th, 2026

Kioxia's upgraded GP drive tops 20 million random-read IOPS as part of its plan to rival DRAM for AI workloads.

Kioxia showed a faster version of its GP series SSD that exceeds 20 million IOPS on 512-byte random reads, roughly double the GP1 it unveiled in August 2026.

It uses third-generation XL-FLASH, which reads three times faster and writes about 150% faster than before thanks to shorter wiring and more planes per die.

The original GP1 is a PCIe 6.0 drive that lets GPUs access storage directly, with read latency under 5 microseconds and up to 50 DWPD endurance.

Kioxia also showed the LD4, a QLC E1.L drive with 15.36TB and 30.72TB capacities, though without performance figures.
