Detecting AI Attackers in the Cloud: Four Signals That Still Work
Abnormal, Thursday, October 15th, 2026
Abnormal outlines four signals that, read together, still catch AI-driven cloud attackers using valid keys.
Abnormal notes that Google's Threat Intelligence Group described an actor who used an AI coding assistant to run a mass credential-harvesting campaign in under six hours.
Because every API call is authorized, attackers with valid keys can evade posture tools, signature rules and endpoint agents.
The post argues four signals still work, namely activity logs, control-plane changes, access texture and decoys, and that while each falls short alone, combined they reach the precision automated response requires.
