NATO Quantum Roadmap Sets Defense Technology Milestones Through 2029
eWeek, Tuesday, October 6th, 2026
NATO's public quantum roadmap sets milestones through 2029, including a quantum-resilient pilot link, but omits costs and team details.
eWeek reports that NATO published a public summary of its quantum roadmap on September 29, two months after allies approved it on July 30.
It calls for a standards specialist team by Q3 2027, a pilot communications link between NATO headquarters in Brussels and SHAPE in Mons by Q4 2027, and an alliance standards roadmap by Q3 2029.
The pilot is a demonstration rather than a deployed network, however, and team membership and funding remain unpublished.
