Google Cloud Unveils Persistent Gemini Agents for Long-Running Tasks, and They Get Their Own Gmail, Calendar, and Drive Storage

VentureBeat, Thursday, October 8th, 2026

Google unveils a persistent Gemini agent that handles multi-day work tasks with its own memory, identity and Workspace accounts.

At Gemini at Work 2026, Google introduced a universal Gemini agent that can research, create documents, write code and coordinate other agents on tasks lasting hours or days.

The agent keeps the same memory, context and identity across apps and gets its own Gmail, Calendar and Drive storage.

Now in private preview, it will be built into Gemini Enterprise at no extra charge, work across Workspace, Microsoft 365, Slack and the command line, and support Anthropic's Claude models as Microsoft and OpenAI push persistent agents of their own.
