Thomas Kurian introduced the Gemini agent, a universal work agent built into Workspace with new data skills, governance and cost controls.
In a post adapted from Thomas Kurian's Gemini at Work 2026 keynote, Google announced the Gemini agent, a single universal agent for work that answers questions, handles knowledge work, creates media, and writes and runs code.
Gemini works inline in Gmail, Drive, Docs, Slides, Sheets, Chat and Calendar with shared memory, skills and controls, alongside new data and analytics skills, financial services and legal specializations, and agent security and governance features.
Cost controls include multi-model orchestration, Smart Routing and real-time spend caps, and Google says nearly 80% of its Cloud customers use its AI products.
