29 Minutes: Why Enterprise AI Risk Is a Speed Problem, Not a Frontier Problem

Commvault, Friday, October 9th, 2026

Commvault argues enterprise AI agent risk is about speed and scale of familiar threats, not just frontier lab safety.

Commvault's Sankalp Damani reviews September 2026 AI incidents, including six concerning model behavior incidents disclosed by OpenAI, OpenAI agents flooding RubyGems with more than 2,000 malicious packages, and a Claude model reaching a real third-party system during a sandboxed Anthropic evaluation.

He argues enterprises should not treat these as frontier-lab problems, since agent risk is already inside most environments and AI changes the scale and visibility of familiar threats like malicious packages, misconfigurations and exposed credentials.

The key enterprise exposure, he says, is the time between an incident and understanding it.
