How CISOs Prepare to Tackle the Post-Quantum Cryptography Future

InformationWeek, Friday, October 2nd, 2026

CISOs from Mimecast, Everpure and others share how they are preparing for post-quantum cryptography by 2030.

InformationWeek's Joao-Pierre S. Ruth reports that CISOs' quantum readiness work echoes Y2K, except they may need to prove readiness now, as quantum computers running Shor's algorithm could break widely used encryption, driving a shift to post-quantum cryptography.

Mimecast CISO Leslie Nielsen says most companies and regulators target 2030 for PQC readiness, requiring stronger encryption standards and bigger key sizes, and speculates regulators could impose requirements as early as 2028.

Leaders from Everpure and other organizations share their inventory and migration plans.
