Databricks made native IPv4/IPv6 and CIDR functions generally available, with Photon-optimized joins up to 3.1x faster.
Databricks released generally available built-in functions for parsing, validating, canonicalizing and joining IPv4 and IPv6 addresses and CIDR blocks, removing the need for UDFs, regex or bitwise math.
The SQL, PySpark and Scala functions are optimized in Photon, and in Databricks benchmarks IP CIDR joins ran up to 3.1x faster and 6.4x cheaper than another leading cloud data warehouse.
The functions require Databricks Runtime 18 LTS or later and target threat detection, fraud and network observability workloads.
