Azure introduces a VM Lifecycle policy with Current, Extended, End of Life and Retired stages to help customers plan migrations.
Microsoft published an Azure Virtual Machine Lifecycle policy built around transparency, predictability and guidance as VM generations change.
It defines four stages, Current, Extended, End of Life and Retired, each with stated Microsoft investment levels, regional and quota availability, purchasing options and pricing.
General Purpose, Memory Optimized, Compute Optimized and Storage Optimized VM families are the first covered, and Microsoft also promises advance notice and AI-led tooling to speed workload transitions.
