OpenAI outlined its strategy for advancing AI safely, emphasizing alignment research, an automated AI researcher and human oversight.
OpenAI described three goals guiding its work: navigating the next period of AI progress by building an automated AI researcher and keeping people part of the self-improvement loop, delivering the benefits of scientific and economic progress, and ensuring capable AI remains a tool for strengthening defenses and understanding.
It cited AI-enabled research already contributing to advances in mathematics, including the Navier-Stokes Millennium Problem, as evidence of potential in medicine and economic empowerment.
OpenAI stressed that alignment research must keep pace with growing AI capability and autonomy so systems remain under human control.
