Hands-on testing finds the RTX PRO 4500 nearly triples L4 throughput but draws 105 more watts in an edge server.
StorageReview's testing shows the RTX PRO 4500 Blackwell Server Edition delivers about 2.7x the throughput of Nvidia's L4 running small language models in an HPE ProLiant DL145 Gen11 edge server.
The 4500 holds sub-second time-to-first-token even at 256 concurrent requests, a point where the L4 sees queuing delays exceeding 30 seconds.
That gain requires 105 more watts of system power, rising from 196W to 301W under load. The 4500 also runs larger 26B-parameter models via NVFP4 quantization, a capability the L4 lacks, while still improving efficiency 1.3-1.4x in tokens per watt at the card level and 1.9x system-wide.
