Google shows how its AlphaEvolve evolutionary coding tool can optimize latency-critical video processing beyond what AI coding assistants achieve.
Google describes using AlphaEvolve, an autonomous evolutionary code-optimization tool, to speed up latency-critical video processing, where frame budgets as tight as 16.6ms at 60fps leave no room for inefficiency.
Unlike standard AI coding assistants, which can generate boilerplate but can't optimize against real hardware or verify visual fidelity, AlphaEvolve pairs cloud-scale model reasoning with local benchmarking in a closed loop.
Google cites a partnership in which DoIt used AlphaEvolve to autonomously optimize production Swift code in a live macOS streaming app, finding performance gains manual profiling had missed. The post argues the same pattern applies broadly, from microservices to database queries to ML pipelines.
