Broadcom argues most enterprises overestimate their ransomware readiness even as AI-driven, fileless attacks surge.
Broadcom describes a Resilience Illusion in which 78% of organizations experienced a ransomware attack in 2025 and nearly 40% of affected executives believed their teams were well prepared, yet 50% of those hit were unable to fully restore lost data.
It says cyber warfare has become automated and machine-speed, fueled by generative AI, with an 85% surge in AI-enabled attacks in 2025. Attackers now favor credential harvesting followed by fileless, living-off-the-land techniques - over 82% of intrusions - using legitimate tools and stolen credentials to move laterally, exfiltrate data, and plant encryption keys while evading detection.
