Security Teams Increasingly Outflanked by AI Agents

Non-human AI identities now outnumber human identities by 75:1 in some environments, outpacing security systems.
According to an IDC and GuidePoint Security report, AI agents are growing faster than security teams can manage them.
Non-human identities were the initial entry point in 19% of confirmed security incidents, matching phishing and stolen credentials.
However, only 18% of organizations enforce least-privilege just-in-time access with automatic remediation, and most cannot provide exact counts of agents in their environments, creating significant security governance gaps.
