Veeam Application-Consistent Backup Without the Guesswork
StorageSwiss, Monday, September 7th, 2026
How Veeam's Deployment Toolkit delivers application-consistent, not just crash-consistent, backups for VergeOS VMs.
Storage Switzerland explains the difference between crash-consistent backups, which capture disks as-is, and application-consistent backups, which quiesce apps and flush transactions so databases restore cleanly.
VergeOS became a supported platform in Veeam Backup & Replication 13.1 via the Universal Hypervisor API. Installing the Veeam Deployment Toolkit in a guest lets Veeam automatically deploy its agent on the first backup, covering SQL Server and other applications on Windows and Linux.
Veeam Explorers can still extract items from crash-consistent backups, but only prepared backups guarantee transaction consistency.
