Insights-Client Updates Standardize RHEL Package Management
Red Hat, Thursday, September 10th, 2026
From RHEL 9.8 and 10.2, insights-core moves from runtime updates to RPM delivery for predictable change control.
Beginning with RHEL 9.8 and RHEL 10.2, Red Hat is moving insights-core delivery from runtime self-updates to RPM Package Manager.
The change gives administrators the control and predictability they expect from every other package on the system, rather than having a component update itself outside the change management process.
For organizations in regulated environments where unscheduled changes to production systems are a compliance issue, this removes a genuine friction point that had discouraged Insights adoption. The post covers the transition timeline and what to expect.
