3 Surveys Deliver the Same Uncomfortable Truth About Adopting Agentic AI

ZDNET, Friday, August 28th, 2026

Deloitte, KPMG, and Accenture research shows fast agentic AI adoption but slow operational and governance readiness.

Three separate studies converge on the same finding: companies are adopting AI agents quickly but lagging badly on rebuilding how they actually operate.

Deloitte found 43% of organizations expanding agent deployments but only 15% reaching scaled multi-agent orchestration, with workforce readiness at 20% and just 16% saying their processes were prepared. KPMG's survey of 2,145 leaders across 20 countries shows the center of gravity shifting from deployment to accountability, AI economics, and measurable value.

The article argues scaling agentic AI is less a technology problem than one of accountability, governance, and keeping humans in the lead rather than merely in the loop.
