Virtualization Review, Friday, August 28th, 2026
Google Cloud survey finds 83% of organizations need infrastructure upgrades to run production agentic AI.
Google Cloud's '2026 State of Infrastructure in the Agentic AI Era' report, surveying 1,402 senior IT decision-makers across 12 countries, found only 17% feel fully confident supporting mission-critical agents, while 12% need fundamental infrastructure overhauls and 29% need major core system upgrades.
Some 79% cite security, governance and MLOps as top scaling challenges, 91% factor power consumption into AI hardware selection, and 90% view edge AI deployment as important.
Google's Nirav Mehta called the findings 'a roadmap for establishing the new standard for production-grade autonomous systems,' with business-system alignment (64%) and model efficiency (64%) cited as added barriers.
