Global Survey Links Cloud-Based Physical Security to 2.6x AI Adoption

Verkada survey of 2,741 leaders finds fully cloud-managed security operations use AI at 2.6 times on-prem rates.
Verkada's 2026 State of Cloud Physical Security survey of 2,741 IT and security leaders across 13 countries found 57% of fully cloud-managed organizations actively use AI versus 38% for hybrid and just 22% for on-premises deployments.
Hybrid remains the dominant model at 70% of deployments, though 94% of non-fully-cloud organizations report cloud transitions underway or planned, and 89% agree the future of physical security is cloud-based.
Investment priorities were nearly tied between cybersecurity (26%), cloud infrastructure (25%) and AI analytics (23%), while only 41% report comprehensive AI governance and just 38% have formal ROI measurement in place.
