OpenAI reaffirms Zero Data Retention for eligible API customers and previews Private Safety Processing.
OpenAI reaffirmed its Zero Data Retention commitment for eligible API customers, under which it does not retain their prompts or model responses.
The post also previews Private Safety Processing, which strengthens safety safeguards across interactions while remaining compatible with Zero Data Retention. The tension it addresses is that safety monitoring normally requires retaining and inspecting content.
Private Safety Processing is presented as a way to apply safeguards without that retention. The announcement is aimed at enterprise and regulated API customers.
