Announcing IBM Netezza Nexus: An Open Lakehouse Catalog for Apache Iceberg
IBM, Thursday, August 13th, 2026
IBM announces Netezza Nexus, an open lakehouse catalog giving governed multi-engine access to Apache Iceberg tables.
IBM announced Netezza Nexus, an open lakehouse catalog that provides secure, governed, multi-engine access to data stored in Apache Iceberg tables.
The catalog lets organisations manage and govern data lakes while federating with external catalogs, without copying or moving the underlying data.
IBM's stated goal is that every engine in a customer's architecture works from a single governed, trusted version of the Iceberg data, with no duplication, no migration and no lock-in.
Because it is built on open Apache Iceberg standards, IBM says customers retain freedom of choice across engines, platforms and tools. At announcement, Netezza Nexus is available in Private Tech Preview.
