71% of CISOs Spend 10+ Hours on Board Reports

CISOs spend excessive time on board presentations because of communication gaps and missing cyber risk frameworks.
According to a Pulse Security AI report, 71% of CISOs dedicate 10 or more hours per board presentation cycle, with most presenting quarterly. Only 12.5% feel very confident that boards understand the true state of their security program.
The core challenge stems from upstream governance issues, as 55% of boards lack a defined cyber risk appetite and organizations rely on fragmented data sources rather than formal measurement. CISOs are asking for automated threat analysis, better data aggregation tools, and business-impact translation frameworks to reduce preparation burden and improve oversight.
