The release builds on the progress of the widely used Flash series and arrives just three weeks after Gemini 3.6 Flash.
Google positions the Flash line as the high-volume tier balancing capability against cost and latency. The announcement was made by Tulsee Doshi, Senior Director of Product Management, on behalf of the Gemini team. The model targets coding and agentic workloads specifically.
