Sophos launches AI Defense to discover shadow AI, assess risk, and enforce policy inside the existing Fusion stack.
Sophos launched AI Defense, a product aimed at the shadow AI problem in enterprises. The company cites research that 75% of employees use AI tools not sanctioned by IT and that 82% of organizations discovered at least one AI agent or workflow they did not previously know about.
The platform performs four functions: discovering shadow AI activity, assessing the risk it creates, enforcing usage policy, and feeding AI signals into existing security workflows.
It ships as part of the Sophos Fusion defense system and works alongside current endpoint, network, identity, and browser protections rather than requiring a separate platform or dedicated staff.
The positioning targets organizations that want visibility over AI usage without adding headcount.
