Echoverse: Deep, Evolving Environments for Computer-Use Agents

Microsoft, Friday, July 31st, 2026

Microsoft Research introduces Echoverse, environments that evolve to keep testing computer-use agents meaningfully.

Microsoft Research introduced Echoverse, a set of deep and evolving environments for training and evaluating computer-use agents. Static benchmarks become uninformative once models are optimized against them, so environments that change are needed to keep measurement meaningful.

Echoverse generates variation in interface layout, task structure, and failure conditions rather than presenting a fixed set of scenarios.

The post covers the design and what it reveals about current agent capability. It is aimed at researchers working on agentic computer use.
