Amazon CloudWatch Announces Managed Prometheus Collectors
AWS, Friday, July 31st, 2026
CloudWatch can now scrape Prometheus metrics from EKS, EC2, ECS, MSK, and OpenSearch without customer-managed agents.
Amazon CloudWatch now collects Prometheus metrics from AWS infrastructure using fully managed collectors. Customers can monitor Amazon EKS, EC2, ECS, MSK, and OpenSearch Service workloads without deploying or maintaining any agents themselves.
Previously, getting Prometheus metrics into CloudWatch required running and scaling collection infrastructure, which added operational burden and a failure mode of its own. The managed collectors handle discovery, scraping, and delivery.
The feature targets teams that want Prometheus-format metrics without operating the collection tier.
