The power industry has largely solved the question of whether critical power assets should be connected. UPS systems, PDUs, and power management platforms are now routinely integrated with cloud services, remote support, and operational analytics. The harder question is whether these assets are deployed in a way that justifies the trust being placed in them.

Even when products are Secure by Design and Secure by Default, commissioning and integration decisions often determine the real cybersecurity outcome.

Yet these activities are frequently led by teams focused on operational performance and uptime rather than cyber risk. This session examines why commissioning may be the most important security event in a power asset's lifecycle and outlines practical approaches for establishing security from day one through secure commissioning, secure-by-deployment principles, and lifecycle risk management.
